Question: “My daughter used Kaboom to clean the granite vanity in our bathroom and the surface now has a lot of white etching. What can I use to clean this?
Answer: Unfortunately, I know your counter all too well. These types of countertops have been dyed with a black dye to enhance their looks. These dyes can be degraded by different types of acidic cleaners (Kaboom is acidic). The acid removes the dye and you are left with what the stone looks like in your picture. Granite is acid resistant- the white marks are not etches.
I would suggest contacting a Stone Refinisher who could possibly re-dye the material OR remove all the dye and then color enhance the surface to a darker more even appearance.
Please don’t be mad at your daughter- this happens a lot!
